Around 200 people will be volunteering their time as Coventry Half Marathon returns on Sunday 19 March.

Allesley Village Scouts, who have supported the Coventry Half Marathon in previous years, are one of the groups that will be looking after one of the water stations and the Coventry Ambassadors will be returning to help runners and spectators with their friendly approach and local knowledge.

David Boughey, Managing Director at local Community Interest Company, EnV, who manages the Coventry Ambassador programme and who is helping organise the volunteers for the day, said:  “We have currently recruited over 25 Coventry Ambassadors who are local people and proud of their city and they are really looking forward to being back involved as part of the wider volunteer team supporting Coventry Half Marathon.  It’s another great opportunity to promote what Coventry has to offer and welcome competitors and their families and supporters to the city.”

Many running clubs are providing marshals at points along the route and pace runners, including Northbrook Running Club who were nominated by the Coventry Half Marathon team in 2015 as ‘team of the year’ for providing the most.  Coventry Godiva Harriers, Kenilworth Runners and Massey Ferguson Running Club are also helping out, but there is still a need for more marshals.

Anyone who is interested in being involved in future events as part of the Ambassador programme or who is part of a running team and is able to marshal at the Coventry Half Marathon please email volunteers@env.uk.com (deadline 10 March for marshals)
