The inaugural Coventry Half Marathon took place in 2005 The ‘Lady Godiva Half Marathon’, attracting a field of 1900 half marathon runners and 500 fun runners. The event was created to help people to adopt a healthier lifestyle by becoming more active on a regular basis and was pleased to attract beginners and experienced runners in roughly equal measure.

Today the values surrounding the event remain the same to help reduce health inequalities in Coventry. The event, is all about encouraging people who do little or no physical activity to make it a regular part of their lives before, during and beyond the event itself.

In 2010, the Coventry Half Marathon and Mercia Mile are all about achieving a personal goal whether its completing the fun run or the 13.1 mile Half Marathon. The Mercia Mile is open to absolutely anyone and is a great option for those wishing to walk, run or jog a shorter distance or take part with their children.

The Half Marathon is open to those aged 17 years or over on the day.

The Coventry Half Marathon and Mercia Mile are supported by the City Council and local Businesses in and around Coventry.
